I just bought the Crofton Ice Cream maker yesterday and I froze it for 9 hours and churned my ingredients for 40 minutes. I was looking forward to the nicest most creamiest yummiest homemade ice cream ever, only to find a container of the same liquid (plus some froth) sitting in the bowl. What did I do wrong?
Yes, I froze the inner bowl for 9 hours. I churned it for 40 min. because it wasn’t frozen at 20 or 30 min and the directions said to do it for a max of 40. No luck. I had the bowl freezing on the bottom shelf of my freezer, so in the event that it didn’t get cold enough, I put it at the top and will tray again later.

I’m making homemade ice cream, it was a spur of the moment plan. The mixture is in the refridgerator cooling off so it will be cold when I put it into the ice cream maker. It’s taking a very long time to cool off and I wondered what would happen if I put the mix into the ice cream maker while it was still warm?

I’m curious what would happen if I left out the 4-8 hour cooling period.

This afternoon, i came across some recipes to make some homemade ice cream and as i did not have an ice cream maker i used the bag method. Also i did not have any ziplock bags so i used small bags. Actually i used a small plastic container at first but then it didnt work so i changed it to another plastic bag.

I put 1/2 a cup of whole milk, a tablespoon of condensed milk, 1/4 cup of sugar, a little vanilla. then i put like enough ice to cover the bottom of the bag twice over and put quite a bit of salt but i started like tossing the bag around but the ice cream didnt form after like half an hour?

Is this because it was too little ice or maybe i didnt shake it hard enough?

the ice didnt cover the whole plastic bag, only about 1/4 of it.

So we bought this new ice cream maker machine and we just need a simple recipe. We bought whipping cream and half &half but now we are stuck on what everything else is. Help??
Simple recipe for Vanilla Ice Cream.

i just got my first ice cream maker. i remember as a child my mother always made homemade ice cream and it was so good. so since my husband loves ice cream so much (he eat 1.5 gal per week) i decided to get him one for fathers day. it is a 2 quart cuisinart fully automatic.
it came with a booklet with recipes but doesnt tell you at all on how to make fat free or low fat ice cream. i dont want frozen yogurt. the recipe that it has for simple vanilla ice cream use milk, heavy cream, and sugar.
i already figure i can use less sugar than what it calls for.
but here are my questions.

can i use fat free milk for the milk portion of it?

also, when it calls for heavy cream can i use light cream instead or is there something better??

how do make ice cream without an ice cream maker? i remember once making ice cream by putting custard in a big cracker tin filled with ice and salt and just rolling it around the room with my classmates. any tips?

On Rachael Ray when Kate Gosselin was on the show, they made some ice cream using like cream and ice cubes. It was homemade but they didn’t use an ice cream maker. Can somebody tell me how to make it please!
